Explorers

Who we are

Explorer Scouts are young people aged between 14 and 18 years old and as are all our sections, open to girls as well as boys.  They make up the fourth section of the Scouting family after Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Explorer Scouts are part of something bigger – and as members of Goyt District’s Explorer Scouts we make sure we do just that.  So members of Explorers in High Lane and Werneth make sure they come together regularly for joint activities – more Explorers means more fun.

The two units plan their programmes carefully together, ensuring some activities are done independently but others are held together. This is especially true for the all important camps and expeditions.  Joint activities can be held at Werneth, High Lane – or much further afield!

To show how closely the units work together all members have a version of the same polo shirt and hoodie.

Our Explorer unit doesn’t meet every week, partly due to activities, holidays, exams and the other commitments that crop up in a teenager’s life, and also because Explorers tend to get out and about at weekends more often than other sections.
