District Cub Camp 2015

4 September 2015
District cub camp is a weekend camp that happens every year which all Cubs from Goyt District can take part in. The camp activities start straight after flag break on Friday evening with a wide game followed by supper and a movie. Saturday morning starts after the usual big cooked breakfast with all the cubs and leaders getting into their themed fancy dress for the day. This years theme was “Cops and Robbers”.  The cubs are given activity passports where they can go off with their friends to do the different activities. Cubs at Flag Break

This year’s activities included low ropes, archery, judo, obstacle courses, laser maze, backwoods cooking and police chariot get-away driving which tested the cubs pioneering skills. After completing all the activities they all receive a badge at the end of camp. There is a set of three different district cub camp badges which they can get by attending all camps during their time in Cubs. Each year there there are new activities to try as well as some favourites from previous camps.

District Camp 2015 Camp Fire When we have the camp fire, all the groups parade down to it and there are lots of camp fire favourite songs and each year there is a few new songs. The camp fire songs are enjoyed by both cubs and leaders. Our district commissioner, Viv Tipler , said her favourite song is “Singing in the Rain” which is a funny version of a classic song with lots of silly actions for everyone to join in with. Other favourite songs include Bingo, Mike Nolan’s favourite and Muffin man which is great at getting everyone to join in.
