High Lane Scout Group is Growing!

23 June 2013

Bear Grylls, the Duchess of Cambridge, plenty of adults in High Lane… what do they all have in common?   They are all part of Scouting’s Big Adventure.

The core programme might only be for 6-25 year old but by volunteering with us you can join in the fun at any age.  Scouting in High Lane has been enjoying a busy few years, with the group going from strength to strength.  All sections have grown, from Beavers to the Adult leadership team.  The young people have been able to enjoy a huge variety of exciting activities literally from archery to zip wires and we have even been away for the groups first 5 day camp for many years.  This is an exciting time for the whole group and a challenge for the leadership team as we cope with the greater numbers.

One of the biggest challenges we face at the moment is making Scouting available to all the young people in the village who want it.  As we have seen the sections grow we have also seen our waiting lists grow.   Our Beaver Colony is full and our Cub Pack is bursting at the seams.   We would love to meet this challenge head on and the way to do this is to open a new Pack and new Colony.    That is where you come in.  We would love the opportunity to welcome some new faces into the team.  If you could give us a little of your time and enthusiasm, we would provide the training and support, more young people in High Lane get to enjoy Scouting and we all get to be part of the Adventure.

You can find out more about how we’re planning to expand by visiting our ‘growing our group‘ page and completing the short survey.

Volunteering doesn’t just mean leading a Cub pack or Beaver colony, there are many different roles available including many supporting roles.  If you think you could spare some time, please complete the form on our ‘volunteer‘ page.
