Roman Cub Camp 2013
This summer, 1st High Lane Hazlewood Cubs will be having our annual summer camp at Ashworth Valley Scout campsite. Unlike District and Group camp, this is a more relaxed camp and will just include the Cubs in our own pack. This camp will be a Roman theme with many new exciting games and activities including climbing, archery and a zip line for the Cubs to take part in.
The Cubs will be centurions for some activities, they’ll battle it out in the gladiator’s arena for others and Saturday evening will start with the Emperors Banquet so please bring your own toga. There will be bonus points awarded throughout the camp towards the camp competition trophy for the best Roman Six.
If you haven’t yet printed the activity permission forms and returned them, please download them below and return to Peter Barke ASAP. Without these permission forms, your Cub won’t be able to join in with these activities!

Despite the terrible weather forecast for the weekend, we were very fortunate with the weather and for most of the camp enjoyed warm dry weather with some occasional sunshine.
The Cubs built their Roman chariots and paraded Empress Annia held high above the heads of the other Emperors around the camp site and through two other district camps, resplendent in our togas and other Roman attire.
Empress Annia ultimately won the overall camp competition with emperors Marcus Aurelius and Claudius Gothicus coming a very close joint 2nd and Julius Augustus in 4th place. Fantastic Roman Centurion woggles were presented to the winning ‘family’ (available from the Woggle Shop) and the trophy will be presented shortly.
Photo’s from the camp will shortly be appearing on the gallery.
The photo’s from camp have now been posted on our gallery page. We’re still waiting to get all the photos and video together from the camp but enjoy what we have so far!
