Group Camp 2013

20 June 2013

Space… the final frontier in High Lane Scouting.

Group Camp Badge 2013 Get ready for blast off…..!!!  It’s 1st High Lane Group Camp time and this year’s camp theme is ‘Space’.  The camp will be at Dunham Park Scout Camp set in the tranquil, unspoilt countryside on the edge of Dunham Massey National Trust country house and deer park.

This year’s camp will be a different format to previous Group camps with many different activities booked.  It may be one small step for an Explorer but it’s one giant leap for Beaver kind!

Climbing, abseiling, shooting, archery and grass sledging are just a few of the activities on the day plus canoeing for the older sections.

Accommodation

Scouts and Explorers, as you would expect, will be camping in tents in one of the many excellent camping fields.  Cubs will be sleeping indoors on this occasion in the Frank Harrop Lodge with the convenient amenities this offers so the Cub section can also maximise the time available for activities.

Programme

As usual, Beavers will be joining us for the day on Saturday, arriving after Breakfast and departing after the evening camp fire which will be led by our more than slightly mad Cub leader team who will no doubt be “calling upon others to sing us a song”.  Camp fire sketches will also feature as well so now’s the time to start getting voices in order for joining in!

The day’s activities will take part in patrol groups as usual but in a more relaxed format allowing everyone to move freely with their friends between the various activities and bases as the individuals wants to.

Catering

So that we can maximise the time we have to spend on activities and as a special treat there will be a hog roast tea supplied by the Spitting Pig company as well as vegetarian and other options.  If you’re a parent thinking of coming along and joining the adventure then there’s a tasty treat waiting for you at the end of the day.

… and Finally…

All participants will receive a fantastic badge for their camp fire blankets to commemorate the day, specially designed by our own ASL, Jack Bellini.

Letters will be going out to all sections over the next few days so please get yours completed and returned ASAP!

We look forward to welcoming you to 1st High Lane Group Camp 2013!
